What tO eXPECT
We’re a group of Bible-believing Christians who meet together to worship, serve, and learn more about God. If you are thinking of joining us for one of our services, we want you to feel very welcome. This section will tell you a little bit of what to expect, so you don’t have to feel nervous.
There are no rules for what to wear. Many choose to dress more formally, but this is not essential.
If you have children, feel free to bring them along, regardless of age! They are very welcome at Lisburn IMC. We even have a ‘Kids’ Slot’ during our morning service where primary school aged children can go to the front where they will be told a short bible story. If you would prefer, we have a crèche room for you to bring younger children and babies, where you can still hear and see the service.
Normally, people arrive 5-10 minutes before the service is due to start.
At the door, one or two members of our church will shake your hand, give you a hymn book, and welcome you to our service. They are there to answer any questions you may have.
There is no assigned seating, feel free to sit anywhere. If, when you arrive, the church is almost full, one of the people who greeted you at the door will direct you to an available seat.
During the service, there will be singing, prayer, church announcements, Bible reading and teaching. If you want to come to just listen, that’s perfectly okay!
A plate will be passed around to collect for the work of Lisburn IMC. You should not feel obligated to give anything, just let the plate pass you by. This is an opportunity for those who regularly attend to support the church.
After the service, feel free to stay and chat. As you leave, the person who led the service (usually our Pastor) will shake your hand and thank you for coming. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself or ask any questions that you may have.
We’d love to see you at one of our services! We meet each Sunday at 11.30am and 6.30pm — please see the Church Calendar for more details, or Contact Us if you have any questions.
